Party Planner and Checklist

One Month Before

If you are thinking of hiring an entertainer you should try to book them at least one month before. Ideally you should try to book your entertainer 3 or 4 months in advance. I would certainly recommend Marko Sparko for a fun filled party that will keep the kids entertained all afternoon! c

Start by talking to the birthday child and discuss what kind of party they would like. Traditional, magic, craft, disco or a themed party? You could use a theme to dictate every aspect of the party. c

Write out a guest list with all the names of friends and relatives your child wishes to invite. It is usually a good idea to let siblings invite a friend. c

Choose the date and time. Parties are usually between 1½ and 2½ hours in length. Consider where the guests are travelling from to allow them enough time. c

Tableware

Decorations

Goody Bags

Prizes c

Two - Three Weeks Before

Send out the invitations. Ask guests to RSVP so you know how many to expect. If numbers are limited you could have a “standby” list to replace those who will not be attending. If you are holding the party at a venue, don’t forget to include directions and maybe a map. c

Plan activities and games to play. (See games section, or alternatively let Marko Sparko organise the games for you for a hassle free party!). Plan more than you expect to use, as you don’t want to run out. Consult your child – include them as much as possible in the arrangements. c

If you are planning an outdoor party make sure you devise a back-up plan. No matter how organised you are, the weather is always unpredictable. c

Plan and order the food using a caterer or decide to make some of your own using the ideas in the recipe page. c

Decide on the type of birthday cake you would like and place an order with the caterer or alternatively use one of the cake ideas and create it yourself. c

Order any fireworks. c

Order any fancy dress or make up supplies. c

Arrange for extra help on the day from friends or relatives. c
